...grew up in colonial Cameroon where he witnessed first hand the unfair treatment of the Cameroonian people by their colonial masters. He created alongside his colleagues the UPC, Union des populations Cameroon ( Cameroon's Peoples Union )  which they used to fight against the french and English colonial systems through education of the masses. He was killed in 1958 after extensive guerrilla warfare with the french and french sponsored troops. He was heavily opposed to the colonial divide and rule and was in favor of a one Cameroon, foreshadowing the political problems in Cameroon today.
